9,770 Palestinians Killed, 2,660 Missing Under the Rubble, 25,000 Injured, in 30 days of the Israeli Genocidal War on Gaza November 5, 2023 *** Including the death 4,800 children and 2,550 women. 153 Palestinians were killed, and 2,200 injured by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank.

"Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, unless for a soul, or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had killed humankind entirely" (The Holy Quran, Al-Ma-ida, 5: 32). "And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him, and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a great torment" (Al-Nisa, 4: 93). *** While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son). After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD. By the Time Jesus started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD. So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents. No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians. No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since. The following news stories are just examples, not a systematic record, of the Israeli occupation government abuse, mistreatment, and violations of Palestinian human rights, on daily basis. More detailed news stories can be found at the following sources:http://english.wafa.ps/, https://english.palinfo.com/, https://imemc.org/, https://paltoday.ps/ar/ *** Editorial Notes about terms & names of people and places: 1. Names of people and places have been standardized to match standard Arabic grammatical rules. 2. Underlined letters and letters preceded by an apostrophe are references to Arabic letter sounds, which does not exist in the English alphabet. 3. The English letter i is equivalent to the Arabic short vowel known as kasra, as in Ibraheem and Qasim as well as in the English words sit and bit. So, it is incorrect to use it as a long vowel for such Arabic nams as Jameel and Jibreel. 4. The English letter e is equivalent to the Arabi short vowel known as fat'ha, as in A'hmed and Mu'hammed. 5. It is more accurate to refer to the land-grabbing Israelis, who establish illegal settlements in the Palestinian territory of the West Bank, as illegal Israeli settlers, than referring to them as colonists. The term colony is a reference to a large entity or a country, such as American states before independence. It was also a reference to Egypt, and India, when they were British colonies. In addition, the term "colony" represents a positive nostalgic theme, in the minds of native speakers of English, particularly in America and Britain. 6. It is more accurate to use the verb "abduct" than the verb "detain," in reference to taking Palestinian citizens by force to prisons and interrogation centers, by Israeli occupation regime soldiers. This is because the presence of the Israeli occupation regime forces is illegal in the Palestinian territories, and they have no jurisdiction over the Palestinian people. *** *** Al-Kaila in a message to international community: Isn't 30 days of killing enough? RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 5, 2023 (WAFA) – Palestinian Minister of Health Mai Al-Kaila demanded all health ministries around the world, as well as medical and healthcare associations and unions, to take action and condemn the daily massacres targeting Ghazzza (Gaza), including its healthcare system. In a press statement, Al-Kaila said the Israeli occupation continues to target everything in the Gaza Strip, including hospitals, places of worship, and shelter centers inside schools, in a blatant disregard for all international laws. "Continuous massacres over the past 30 days have resulted in over 9,700 martyrs, including 4,800 children," Al-Kaila explained. "These massacres have not spared medical personnel, with over 150 healthcare workers being among the martyrs."Al-Kaila demanded the immediate provision of a safe humanitarian corridor to allow for the flow of aid, medication, and fuel into Gaza, especially in view of the deliberate Israeli attacks on ambulance convoys transporting the wounded, hindering their transfer to the Rafa'h crossing for treatment in Egypt. She stressed that "ethics, laws, and humanity cannot be portioned. The world is facing a real test of the honesty of its slogans that call for compassion, the rejection of violence, and the protection of children and women." M.N. Health Minister warns of an imminent disaster in Gaza due to lack of medical supplies RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 5, 2023 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Minister of Health, Mai Al-Kaila, has issued a grim warning about an impending disaster in Ghazza (Gaza), saying many wounded individuals are at imminent risk of death due to the severe shortage of medical supplies and fuel necessary to keep hospitals operating. In a press statement, Minister All-Kaila stated that Israeli attacks on the healthcare sector in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of over 150 medical personnel. Additionally, 27 ambulance vehicles have been destroyed, and 16 hospitals and 32 primary healthcare centers are no longer operational. She pointed out that the ongoing Israeli bombardment around hospitals in Gaza especially in the northern areas aims to force medical personnel to abandon their patients and leave the hospitals. "This represents a complex massacre inflicted upon the wounded and patients, whereby Israel is trying to block their treatment inside Gaza's very hospitals and is obstructing their transfer to Egypt for treatment by targeting and bombing [medical] convoys," said Al-Kaila. The Health Minister appealed to the international community to urgently supply hospitals in Gaza with the fuel needed to save as many innocent lives as possible. M.N. Israeli cabinet minister calls for shelling Gaza with an atomic bomb TEL AVIV, Sunday, November 5, 2023 (WAFA) – Hard-right Israeli Minister of Heritage, Amichai Eliyahu, from the extremist Otzma Yehudit party called today for dropping an atomic bomb on the Gaza Strip. Asked in an interview with Radio Kol Berama whether an atomic bomb should be dropped on Gaza, Eliyahu said “this is one of the possibilities.” Eliyahu also voiced his objection during the interview to allowing any humanitarian aid into Gaza, saying “we wouldn’t hand the Nazis humanitarian aid,” and charging that “there is no such thing as uninvolved civilians in Gaza.” Asked about the fate of the Palestinian population, he said: “They can go to Ireland or deserts, the monsters in Gaza should find a solution by themselves.” M.N. Massive protests and rallies worldwide for fourth week in support of Palestine RAMALLAH, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) – For the fourth week in a row, multiple capitals and cities across the globe witnessed massive demonstrations and marches today in solidarity with the Palestinian people amid the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip. In the UK capital of London, thousands of British supporters of Palestine gathered in the heart of the city, waving Palestinian flags and chanting "free Palestine." The demonstration concluded outside the Houses of Parliament in Westminster. Carmel Rivolta, a protester, said she was disappointed by major world powers failing to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. "That is why we are here," she said. "We call for an immediate ceasefire and demand that Palestinians be given their rights to existence, life, human rights, and all the rights that we enjoy." In Paris, France, tens of thousands took to the streets to condemn Israel's ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people. Organized by various associations, organizations, and leftist political parties, the demonstrators set off from Republic Square in central Paris. The protesters decried the ongoing Israeli aggression and massacres perpetrated against civilians, expressing anger at the challenging humanitarian situation faced by Gaza's civilian population. Similar scenes unfolded in the French cities of Toulouse and Strasbourg, as thousands rallied to protest against the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. In Berlin, Germany, thousands demonstrated in solidarity with the people of Palestine, especially in Gaza, who have endured continuous Israeli airstrikes since the beginning of October. Families, including children, participated in the protest, raising banners calling for saving Gaza and an end to the Israeli aggression. Protesters donned Palestinian keffiyehs as they gathered in Alexanderplatz Square, waving Palestinian flags while chanting "free Palestine." Italy saw a significant demonstration in Milan, where thousands expressed their support for Palestine and denounced the Israeli aggression on Gaza. Protesters demanded an end to the ongoing Israeli genocide of Palestinians. In Denmark, thousands gathered in Copenhagen for a demonstration of solidarity with Palestine and to condemn Israel's ongoing aggression on Gaza and the West Bank. The protestors rallied in the City Hall Square in central Copenhagen, holding Palestinian flags and banners demanding an end to the siege on Gaza. In Washington, D.C., thousands of Americans rallied in protest of Israel's aggression against Gaza. Demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and banners bearing slogans such as "Sree Palestine," "Stop the Genocide," and "Stop the War on Gaza." These protests highlight the global outpouring of support for Palestinian people and demand an end to the Israeli genocide campaign taking place right in Gaza and in the rest of occupied Palestine, calling for an immediate ceasefire to save innocent lives. M.N. Killing and Injuring of Palestinians in Ghazza (Gaza) by Israeli Occupation Apartheid Regime Forces Israeli occupation apartheid regime warplanes kill 200 Palestinians in the last few hours, medical sources confirm GAZA, Sunday, November 5, 2023 (WAFA) – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip said that 200 Palestinian civilians, most of them children and women, were killed in 10 massacres committed by the occupation in the Gaza Strip during the past hours. Sources at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital indicated that five Palestinians were killed and dozens were wounded following a raid by occupation warplanes, which targeted a house and destroyed other houses in the Buraij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. The occupation aircraft also targeted a house in the Bait Lahiya project in the northern Gaza Strip, killing a number of civilians and wounding others who arrived at the Indonesian hospital. K.T. Gaza: Death toll surges to over 9,770 as Israel’s genocide persists November 5, 2023, GAZA, (PIC) +- The death toll from Israeli bombardments in the Gaza Strip has risen to 9,770, the health ministry in the embattled coastal enclave stated on Sunday. “The death toll as a result of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7 is 9,770 people, including 4,800 children and 2,550 women,” the ministry said in a statement. “270 more Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza within the last 24 hours,” the statement added. The statement pointed out that the health ministry received 2,660 reports of missing persons, including 1,270 children who are still buried under the rubble. Every day, the Israeli army escalates its air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip, which has been under relentless bombardment since a cross-border operation by Hamas’s armed wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, on October 7. Besides the large number of casualties and the huge displacement of people, vital supplies, especially water, fuel, food and different medical needs, are running low for the 2.3 million residents in Gaza due to the tight Israeli blockade. Death toll across Palestine surges to 9,883, over 26,000 wounded RAMALLAH, Sunday, November 5, 2023 (WAFA) – In the wake of the devastating Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank, the death toll has surged to at least 9,883, with over 26,000 individuals wounded, the Ministry of Health said in an update this afternoon. The Ministry said in a statement that the number of deaths in the Gaza Strip has reached 9,730, while the death toll in the West Bank also surged to 153 In addition, the ministry said, 25,000 Palestinians have been injured in Gaza, and nearly 2,200 others in the West Bank. As of October 29, said the ministry, it's been reported that approximately 1,950 Palestinians, including at least 1,050 children, are missing, and they may be trapped or dead under the rubble, awaiting rescue. Of the 35 hospitals in Gaza, 16 are currently out of service due to the Israeli bombing campaign and the depletion of fuel reserves. The shortage of fuel has left doctors with no choice but to perform surgeries without proper anesthesia, including those who have been injured in the airstrikes and women undergoing cesarean sections. Since October 7, Israeli authorities have prevented patients in Gaza from leaving the territory to seek treatment in hospitals in Jerusalem and inside the 1948-occupied lands, including around 2,000 patients suffering from cancer. M.N. Israel’s carnage in Gaza enters day 30 GAZA, (PIC) +- For the 30th consecutive day, Israel’s massive carnage continues to
claim more lives in the Gaza Strip as its army persists in bombing more
homes, facilities and neighborhoods and massacring civilians, including
children and women. Israeli Missiles Kill Dozens Of Palestinians In Gaza IMEMC, NOV 5, 2023 On Saturday evening, Israeli missiles killed dozens of Palestinians and injured hundreds, mainly women and children, in the Gaza Strip. Media sources said the army fired missiles at a home of the Sam’an family in Al-Maghazi refugee camp, in central Gaza, killing fifty-one and wounding dozens, mainly women and children. The sources added that the Israeli Air Force fired dozens of missiles in many neighborhoods west and north of Gaza City and fired phosphorous shells into the areas, especially the Al-Maghazi refugee camp. The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said the number of casualties is much higher than confirmed as search operations under the rubble of bombarded homes and buildings were ongoing. The Municipality of Bait Lahiya, in northern Gaza, said the Israeli army has not only been bombing homes, medical centers, and various residential and commercial buildings, in addition to media facilities, but is also deliberately bombing water wells and water tanks and destroying infrastructure needed to provide basic services to the displaced families. It said two of the bombed targets were a well and a water reservoir providing water for more than 70.000 Palestinians in the Tal Al-Za’atar area in northern Gaza, causing flooding in various surrounding homes and buildings. Furthermore, the Israeli Air Force carried fifteen air strikes in the vicinity of the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza. In addition, the Palestinians located the corpses of five Palestinians and rescued many others from the rubble of the Abu Haseera family home, which Israel bombed west of Gaza City. At least seven Palestinians were killed, and dozens injured by Israeli missiles targeting homes in the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza. Also, seven Palestinians were killed and many injured by Israeli missiles that struck a home for the Mu'haisin family in the center of Jabalya refugee camp. Among the Israeli bombing targets were not only homes and civilian buildings but also dozens of bakeries, water stations, fishing boats, and various infrastructure facilities and streets. The Israeli army also bombed the main gate and yard of the An-Nasr Children’s Hospital in Gaza City, killing and wounding dozens of Palestinians, in addition to firing missiles at the Al-Quds Hospital in Tel Al-Hawa. The Israeli army also fire many missiles at the AlAzhar University in Gaza, destroying killing, killing and wounding dozens of Palestinians. Video Player 00:01 00:21 On its part, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, published videos showing their fighters targeting and destroying many Israeli tanks, including some that were detonating at point-blank range, and confirmed the death of many Israeli soldiers. Al-Qassam added that the constant Israeli bombing on the Gaza Strip has also resulted in the killing of 60 Israelis, who were captured by the group, since October 7, and said that twenty-three of them remain buried under the rubble of bombarded buildings. The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said Israeli missiles and shells have killed at least 9488, mainly women and children, and injured at least 26.000, most of them are children, women, and seniors. The number of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli soldiers and paramilitary colonizers in the occupied West Bank is 147, in addition to more than 2200 injured.
Dozens of innocent civilians murdered by Israel on 30th day of its genocidal war on Gaza GAZA, Sunday, November 5, 2023 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinian citizens have been murdered and many more sustained injuries over the last 12 hours as Israeli airstrikes continued to rain down on the Gaza Strip for the 30th consecutive day. The attacks have also caused extensive destruction to residential buildings, houses, apartments, and public and private properties. WAFA correspondent, quoting the director of Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza, Bashar Murad, reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building near Al-Quds Hospital in the Tel Al-Hawa area of Gaza City with a missile, murdering numerous innocent civilians and injuring many others, including displaced individuals. A patient in the intensive care unit at the hospital was critically wounded by shrapnel from the missile explosion, he added. Meantime, rescue and civil defense teams recovered the bodies of 21 family members of the Abu 'Haseera family after their home, located near the fishermen's port west of Gaza City, was targeted by Israeli airstrikes. At least two children and one adult were also killed, with others injured, in an Israeli artillery bombardment targeting the Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City. The Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City also witnessed a series of intensive Israeli airstrikes, leading to the destruction of numerous homes. Israeli airstrikes further targeted the Shaikh Zayid bin Sultan Mosque in the Al-Kateeba Square west of Gaza City. In its latest update yesterday, the Ministry of Health said the toll of casualties resulting from the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza and the West Bank since October 7 had climbed to at least 9,572 victims and over 26,000 injured, with over 1,600 others unaccounted for and feared dead under the rubble. M.N. Israeli airstrike on Al-Maghazi claims 51 innocent lives, injures many more GAZA, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) - At least 51 Palestinian civilians were murdered while others sustained injuries tonight in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a residence in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, located in the central region of the Gaza Strip. WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes struck the home of the Sam'an family in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, resulting in at least 51 deaths among innocent civilians and destruction to the home targeted and damage to neighboring homes and infrastructure. Meantime, Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes on the western and northern neighborhoods of Gaza, using internationally banned white phosphorus bombs, particularly in the Al-Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City. In a related incident, Israeli occupation forces launched at least 15 airstrikes around the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, WAFA correspondent reported. In the meantime, Israeli warplanes targeted the main water well in the area of Tel Al-Zaatar, north of Gaza Strip, leading to water flowing into the neighborhoods and houses surrounding the well. Earlier in the night, rescue and civil defense teams recovered the bodies of five individuals who had been killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Abu Haseera family home west of Gaza City. Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining bodies and aid the injured who are still trapped beneath the rubble. Earlier today, the Ministry of Health said the toll of casualties resulting from the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza and the West Bank since October 7 had climbed to at least 9,572 victims and over 26,000 injured, with over 1,600 others unaccounted for and feared dead under the rubble. In Gaza, 9,425 Palestinians have been killed, with over 25,000 sustaining injuries. In the West Bank, the death toll has reached 147, with over 2,200 injured. Alarmingly, more than two-thirds of the wounded are children, women, and the elderly. M.N. Fuel crisis forces complete shutdown of Gaza hospital generators November 5, 2023, GAZA, (PIC) +- Power generators at Kamal 'Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza have
stopped working due to a lack of fuel, officials at the hospital said.
Thousands of lives at stake as hospitals in Gaza as fuel stocks run almost empty GAZA, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) – Hospitals in Gaza are reaching breaking point as their supply of fuel runs dangerously low, putting the lives of newborn babies in incubators at grave risk. On Wednesday night, the main generator at the Indonesian hospital - one of the main hospitals in the north of the territory - went out of service. Staff are now having to rely on a secondary generator, which can service only some parts of the hospital, as they continue to receive an influx of patients from the nearby Jabalya refugee camp, which was bombed on both Tuesday and Wednesday, killing hundreds of civilians. Bisan, a youth volunteer in Gaza, sent this message from Al-Shifa Hospital - the largest medical facility Gaza, as quoted by ActionAid. “I’m now at the Al-Shifa Hospital, in the incubator department. The incubator department, as [with] all the departments in Al-Shifa Hospital, and other hospitals as well, are [under threat of] stopping working because there is no fuel in The Gaza Strip, there is no fuel entering the Gaza Strip or going to the hospitals. So more than 45 incubators just in Al-Shifa Hospital could stop. And these newborn babies could simply [die]... Because they need special care. These [babies] in incubators with an age of 42-45 weeks of pregnancy, days old, are [at] threat of [dying].” As well as treating the wounded, hospitals in northern Gaza are acting as places of shelter for around 117,000 thousand people displaced from their homes since the war began. But without food and water, fuel to cook with, clothes or hygiene products, conditions are becoming unbearable. With only a severely limited amount of aid trickling into Gaza through the Rafah border crossing, and no way of transporting this north due to a lack of fuel and damaged roads, there is little hope of relief for millions of people in Gaza. Zaina, whose name has been changed to protect her identity, is one of thousands of women sheltering at Al Quds Hospital. She spoke the chaos these women are living in, day after day. “This area that I am living in, most people [are] displaced from their homes. Our area is dangerous and [there is] no one [left] in the area. We stay in the Al Quds Hospital at night. I want to tell you something about the daily coping strategies of [women]. [In every] moment, they think about how to deal with it – all of this situation [of sheltering in] the hospital. [For] women, it is crowded [and] there are no bathrooms for them to wash [themselves]. [There is] nowhere [for them] to wash their clothes [and] since the [beginning] of the war they [have been sheltering] there.” “[Women are] cut[ting] [empty] bottles of Coca Cola from [the top so that it can hold] water. [They wash their] bodies and clothes [with] a very [small amount of] water because [there is] not enough water [to] wash as usual. They [hang their clothes] to dry [in] any place [they can find] – on a wall, in a tree, on chairs, or inside the bathroom [on the] hanger." As people fight to survive in these conditions, the areas surrounding hospitals continue to be hit by bombing, severely hampering the ability of the medical facilities to continue functioning. At least 73 healthcare workers have been killed in Gaza since October 7. Many were killed while asleep at night at home with their families, in between working shifts. As the number of patients needing urgent treatment continues to rise, the Palestinian Health Ministry has issued a desperate plea urging any retired doctors and nurses or medical students to help if they can. Riham J'afari, Communications and Advocacy Coordinator at ActionAid Palestine, said, “If fuel runs out in Gaza, it will be an unimaginable catastrophe for babies on incubators and those in intensive care units relying on ventilators. Instead of being a place where people needing urgent care are treated, hospitals have become a place where patients are sent to morgues, rather than discharged." “But despite the enormous and impossible challenges, doctors are continuing to provide urgent care amidst indiscriminate bombings, a severe shortage of medical supplies and equipment, and without fuel to power generators. And even when doctors leave hospitals to find precious resources to help keep hospitals going and to keep people alive, they are at risk of being killed in the constant bombardment.” Bisan said: “People are suffering. The bombing is targeting crowded places in Jabalya, in refugee camps, and places that are the most crowded places in the world. The Gaza Strip is about 360 square kilometers, with a population of more than 2.25 million people. Can you imagine how crowded is this? How more than 18,000 tons can make when all this explosive force is dropped over Gaza Strip over the past 28 days. “So, this is the demand now. Ceasefire in Gaza. Ceasefire because the explosive force of the bombs [that] were dropped on Gaza during these days is more than the explosive force of Hiroshima nuclear bomb. Ceasefire now.” M.N Three Palestinians killed in an Israeli airstrike in Rafa'h GAZA, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) – Three Palestinian civilians were murdered and a fourth individual suffered critical injuries this evening in an Israeli airstrike targeting a poultry farm in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip, according to WAFA correspondent. He said that Israeli warplanes targeted a group of civilians working in a poultry farm located east of Rafa'h. The strike resulted in the tragic death of three Palestinians and left one person severely injured. M.N. The strike resulted in the tragic death of seven Palestinians and left many others injured inside and in front of the house. M.N. Israeli airstrike claims nine civilian lives in Gaza City GAZA, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) – Nine Palestinian civilians were murdered this evening in an Israeli airstrike which hit a residential building located in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, according to local sources. WAFA correspondent said Israeli warplanes targeted a house belonging to the Al-Khoali family near the Al-Bustan Street in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, east of Gaza City, resulting in the tragic murder of nine Palestinian civilians and the injury of several others. M.N. Israeli airstrike on Nusayrat kills four Palestinian civilians GAZA, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) – An Israeli airstrike this evening in Nusayrat refugee camp, in central Gaza, resulted in the tragic murder of four Palestinian civilians, according to local sources. WAFA correspondent said Israeli fighter jets attacked a house with missiles in the refugee camp, killing the four innocent civilians. It is not yet clear whether there are further casualties in the Israeli strike. M.N Women and newborns facing a high risk under Israeli bombardment in Gaza, UN agencies warn NEW YORK, Saturday, November 4, 2023 (WAFA) – Women, children and newborns in Gaza are disproportionately bearing the burden of the Israeli aggression on the enclave, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency (UNFPA), and the World Health Organization (WHO) have warned. As of 3 November, according to Ministry of Health data, 2,326 women and 3,760 children have been killed by the Israeli occupation in the Gaza strip, representing 67 percent of all casualties, while thousands more have been injured. This means that 420 children are killed or injured every day, some of them only a few months old. "The [Israeli] bombardments, damaged or non-functioning health facilities, massive levels of displacement, collapsing water and electricity supplies as well as restricted access to food and medicines, are severely disrupting maternal, newborn, and child health services," the UN agencies warned. There are an estimated 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza, with more than 180 giving birth every day. Fifteen percent of them are likely to experience pregnancy or birth-related complications and need additional medical care. The UN agencies explained that all of these women are unable to access the emergency obstetric services they need to give birth safely and care for their newborns. "With 14 hospitals and 45 primary healthcare centers closed, some women are having to give birth in shelters, in their homes, in the streets amid rubble, or in overwhelmed healthcare facilities, where sanitation is worsening, and the risk of infection and medical complications is on the rise," the agencies said. The UN agencies added, "The lives of newborns also hang by a thread. If hospitals run out of fuel, the lives of an estimated 130 premature babies who rely on neonatal and intensive care services will be threatened, as incubators and other medical equipment will no longer function."
